How It Works

Double-coated dogs and many cats have a soft, dense undercoat that sheds heavily, especially in spring and fall. Regular brushes tend to glide over the outer coat and miss much of it.

The fine stainless steel edge on this tool reaches through the topcoat to catch loose undercoat hair and lift it out, and it's designed to leave the topcoat in place. The curved edge follows the shape of your pet's body, and the ergonomic handle keeps your grip comfortable through a full session.

Long Hair or Short Hair?

Long-hair version (gray button): For coats longer than 2 inches (5 cm), such as Golden Retrievers, Collies, and long-haired cats.

Short-hair version (blue button): For coats shorter than 2 inches (5 cm), such as Labradors, Beagles, and short-haired cats.

Choosing a Blade Size

S (1.75 in): Cats and toy breeds
M (2.65 in): Small dogs
L (4 in): Medium to large dogs
XL (5 in): Large and giant breeds with heavy undercoats

A wider blade covers more coat with each stroke, while a narrower blade is easier to use around legs, ears, and smaller bodies.

How to Use

Start with a clean, completely dry coat. Don't use it on wet or damp fur.
Brush in the direction of hair growth with short, gentle strokes and no downward pressure.
Move on once a spot stops releasing much hair, since repeated passes over one area can irritate the skin.
Press the button to release the collected fur, then continue.
Slide the edge cover back on after each use.

Once or twice a week keeps shedding under control, with more frequent sessions during seasonal coat blows.

Good to Know

This tool works best on pets with an undercoat. It isn't meant for curly, low-shedding coats like Poodles and Doodles, or for brushing out mats. For tangles, use a slicker brush first. Avoid sensitive areas and any spots with broken or irritated skin.
