Take two measurements:
- Chest: around the widest part, just behind the front legs.
- Back length: from the base of the neck to the base of the tail.
Use weight as a starting point and the chest measurement as the deciding factor. Sizes may vary by 0.4 to 1.2 inches (1 to 3 cm).
